Helping in Our Communities
Surrey Women's Centre
We all owe a lot to the women in our lives, but unfortunately some aren’t treated the way they should be. The Surrey Women’s Centre plays a vital role as a crisis centre for women and girls escaping domestic violence, sexual assault and other forms of gender-based violence. Each year, LCL takes part in the Christmas activities and donations to try an ease some of the burden and brighten the lives with cheer. The Food Bank
According to a study in 2016, 863,492 people were assisted by Food Banks across Canada. Sadly, this number was up by more then 30% in the last decade and represented children by approximately 36%. Each Fall, LCL has participated in the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive, helping in our own way to support families in need. Visit your local Food Bank to learn how you can help.
As our founder was an Eagle scout, it is little wonder that the LCL team has been so involved with Scouts Canada. Projects have included logistics and communication management for a regional camp, donations of equipment and expertise, and assisting boys to complete eagle scout/Duke of Edinburgh Awards (One of which was to design and engineer of the entrance and concession pavilion at the Theatre Under The Stars in Stanley Park). Additionally, many of our employees spend a night each week as a youth leader within their community scout groups.
