Community

Layton Consulting believes in engineering excellence. Having worked in the glazing industry for over 20 years, we have been involved in many unique projects throughout BC. We also believe in helping build strong communities, and often give of our time, talents and resources to various community events and charities.

Here are just a few of our most recent charitable endeavors.

Scouts Canada: 2012 BC LDS Troops Encampment

Far from the least of this 2012’s volunteer activities, many of our staff contributed in the planning and execution of the BC wide LDS scout encampment. With well over 350 hours of invested time, Mark was involved in re-roofing 28 cabins at Camp Barnard (near Sooke, BC) and overseeing a committee of 10 volunteers. With a camp focused on promoting greater service by the youth in their church, communities and family, Mark’s committee had to develop logos, shirts, lanyards and award pins.

Layton Consulting was instrumental in the production of the camp manuals and youth handbooks for the event. With over 400 boys in attendance during the August 20th – 25th camp, his leadership ensured that all had a fun, memorable and safe time. Mark and Jonathan continue to work with youth in the 9th Peace Arch and 3rd Langley scout groups.

Christmas Socks

At Christmas we wanted to do something good during the holiday season. Instead of giving out chocolates or gift baskets to our clients, we decided we would use the funds to purchase socks. Socks, ranging from baby to adult in all styles and sizes, were donated to the Surrey Women’s Centre for their Christmas Hampers.

We are grateful that together with our clients we were able to keep a few toes warmer, by sharing the warmth of Christmas!

Food Drives

Layton Consulting had the opportunity to be involved with two food drives in 2012. The BC Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Food Drive took place in September. Mark and Jonathan assisted by dropping off flyers and bags throughout neighborhoods in South Surrey and Langley prior to the drive.

Donations were subsequently picked up, sorted and delivered to the South Surrey and Langley Food Banks.Inspired by the Thanksgiving food drive, we decided to contact all of our clients and invite them to participate in a Layton Consulting Food Drive.

With the goal to “fill the truck” (a Ford Expedition) we were able to bring in a full load of non-perishable items for the Langley Food Bank. We are looking forward to making this an annual event, with the hope that we will need two vehicles this year!

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Supporting your family is a key part of the success of Layton Consulting. When an employee mentioned that she wanted to run in the 2012 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s May Run, Layton Consulting was eager to help with a generous financial contribution.

TD Bank: Bar-B-Q for Children’s Hospital

The North Langley TD bank branch raises money for Vancouver Children’s Hospital by putting on a community barbecue. Hot dogs, burgers, chips and pop are sold as well as donation collected for the hospital.

Annually, Layton Consulting supports TD’s efforts by providing funding for all of the food and drinks.

Theatre Under the Stars

Hidden among the old growth trees at Stanley Park lies Theatre Under the Stars. Over the years this not for profit society began to show its age due to disrepair and inadequate facilities. In 2007 Layton first became involved with TUTS by assisting in the design and engineering of the entrance and concession pavilion. We continue to support the TUTS organization through:

  • Re-certification of the entrance and concession pavilion at no charge.
  • Substantial financial contribution for seasonal performances.
  • Sponsorship of an employees and friends night.
