Jonathan Layton has officially been with Layton since 2011, yet as the founder's son, he grew up with engineering in his blood. In addition to a construction background, Jonathan received a diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology at Lethbridge College and an MBA at Trinity Western University. Following the sudden passing of Mark in October 2015, Jonathan succeeded his father as president of the firm, and continues the great legacy his father gave to the glazing industry. Additionally, as a certified thermal simulator by the National Fenestration Rating Council, Jonathan is actively involved in thermal analysis and is an advocate for his client in meeting energy requirements for both residential and commercial applications.

Ashlee Flierl joined the Layton Consulting team in 2008 and has continually progressed due to her exceptional drive and constant desire to meet client needs. Ashlee now operates as the Office Manager, ensuring that daily operations of the office and the administrative aspects of all projects run smoothly. Ashlee’s winning personality and focus on client relations has made her an integral part of LCL, and an asset to the glazing industry as a whole.

Brandy Beaudoin joined Layton Consulting in October 2017. She is a seasoned Administrative Assistant with over 10yrs in the field, two of them being in Human Resources. Brandy brings with her excellent scheduling, communication and organizational skills. She is currently working towards her Human Resources Management certificate at Simon Fraser University.

Ruslan completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2008 from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University located in the Kyrgyz Republic. During his studies, Ruslan was awarded the scholarship of the First President of Russia, Boris N. Yeltsin, for “Excellency in Study” in scientific research, art, sports and social life. Following his degree, Ruslan worked throughout the Kyrgyz Republic with Japanese experts on road, bridge and tunnel projects. He joined Layton Consulting in 2018 as an Applied Technologist with the primary responsibility as our field review specialist. As a new staff member, he works closely with our team of professionals, learning component calculations, job processes and thermal modelling analysis.

Ivan Chu has nearly a decade of structural design experience in specialty glazing designs, as well as other various structural designs. He oversees both residential and commercial glazing engineering projects as well as the NFRC Certified thermal analysis. Following Ivan’s graduation in Civil Engineering from University of British Columbia, he joined Layton Consulting Ltd. to apprentice under Mark S. Layton. Through his mentorship, Ivan Chu is currently registered as a Professional Engineer in 5 Canadian Provinces (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and NWT) and in Washington State. He prides himself on approaching technical engineering challenges with innovative designs that are also cost effective. He has developed new engineering limits for advanced glazing systems, such as structural glass walls, canopies, glass floors and fin systems.

Jonathan Adams is the Special Projects Manager at Layton Consulting Ltd. and oversees projects that present unique technical challenges. With a diverse background in mechanical engineering and product development, Jonathan brings with him a unique set of skills and technical knowledge. Jonathan’s engineering experience includes highly technical research and development projects, systems engineering of products from concept to construction, design optimization with advanced FEA modelling techniques, and technical enterprise app development. His academic tool belt includes a master’s certificate in Project Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and technical diploma in Computer Integrated Design. Jonathan is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia.

Eric Skytte, an experienced structural designer of glazing systems, has been working as technical consultant at Layton Consulting since 2000 and a manager of residential projects since 2006. Eric received a diploma in Business Administration from Douglas College as well as a diploma of Engineering Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Furthermore, he also holds the designation of Applied Science Technologist, AScT, with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC). With over twenty years of experience in the glazing component industry, Eric is working on attaining his limited licence with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC). He also volunteers on the technical committee of Fenestration Association of BC and has served for over ten years on his condominium’s strata board.

Edward Lau obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and is currently pursuing his Master of Engineering degree in Building Science at BCIT. Edward is currently registered as an EIT in British Columbia and Washington State; and is working towards his professional license in both jurisdictions. Since joining Layton Consulting in 2015, Edward provides engineering analysis of different glazing systems for a variety of residential and commercial development projects. He is also very knowledgeable with drafting and modelling software such as AutoCAD, S-frame, and Solidworks. Edward actively participates in seminars and events hosted by SEABC, BCBEC, and APEGBC.

Mahmoud Jafari graduated in civil engineering from IAU University in 2003, yet it wasn’t until after obtaining his MBA in in 2007 from USTMB University that he found interest in the façade industry. After immigrating to Canada, Mahmoud registered with BCEG as an EIT and also achieved his designation as a LEED green associate and NFRC certified simulator. His passion in façade consulting, as well as with a variety of innovative products and systems, led him to joining Layton Consulting in 2017. He is an essential member of the Layton team, tackling engineering calculations, energy modeling, and on-site reviews of product installation.

Jordan Sloan joined Layton Consulting after completing his degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University in 2014. Jordan is a registered Engineer-In-Training in both British Columbia and the State of Washington, and he continues to increase his understanding of the glazing industry as he works towards becoming a Professional Engineer. His three passions include snowboarding, travelling, and managing Layton Consulting's Alberta branch office in Calgary. Although his duties include managerial responsibilities, he is still often found designing and analyzing curtain walls, storefronts, canopies, glass guards, and all other facets of the glazing industry.

Taylor Wight graduated from the University of Alberta with a mechanical engineering degree in 2013. After a few years in the oil and gas industry, he desired to return to his original passions in design. His drive to continue learning, while pushing the boundaries of innovation, is what drew him to working for Layton Consulting. His unique talents and expertise are utilized both in the office, and in his spare time where he uses his CNC router to build all sorts of projects, one of which is patent pending. He is also an avid cyclist, completing a cross Canada journey from Vancouver BC to St. John's NL in 2009.
