Founded in 1994

In August of 1994, our founder, Mark S. Layton, started a company that has literally shaped the landscape of cities along the Pacific Northwest. Before his passing in 2015, Mark’s vision and leadership grew our family company from a small basement operation to one of the leading glass consulting firms in the industry.

We are proud to carry on Mark’s tradition of providing quality engineering with exceptional customer care. Today, Layton Consulting Ltd. (LCL) has two locations: our head office in Surrey, British Columbia, and branch office in Calgary, Alberta.

Founding Principles

Integrity

Mark was well known as both a good man and a good engineer. His personal integrity permeated every job, making it a fundamental part of LCL. From our designs to our client relationships, we believe the only way to do things well is to be accurate, trustworthy, and fair.

Ingenuity

Providing peace of mind to our clients is a central tenet of LCL. We are “YES” engineers: expertly solving problems using technology, creativity, and engineering expertise. We remain at the forefront of advances in glass systems through continued education and integrating with regional glass associations.

Interconnection

Whether on site or visiting clients, Mark consistently took the time to get to know people. He often volunteered himself and his staff in the community, even adapting the Boy Scout oath “to help other people at all times”. Our clients are part of the LCL family; we care about the people behind the projects. At the heart of all we do, we know that someone who matters looks through every window we design.

OUR ADVANTAGE

We continually elevate the value we provide to our clients. While some engineers only sell their stamp, we believe in providing peace of mind. We listen to our clients’ needs, expanding our services to meet the demands of the everchanging glazing and facade industry. We welcome the opportunity to address your questions, concerns, and designs.

Careers

As a steadily growing company, Layton Consulting is always looking for people to join our team. We service the needs of the global glazing industry, with projects and partnerships in the US, Europe, our branch office in Calgary, Alberta or our head office in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Helping in Our Communities

Surrey Women' s Centre

We all owe a lot to the women in our lives, but unfortunately, some aren’t treated as they should. The Surrey Women’s Centre plays a vital role as a crisis centre for women and girls escaping domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of gender-based violence. Each year, LCL takes part in Christmas activities and donations to ease burdens and brighten lives. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, visit www.surreywomenscentre.ca/.

The Food Bank

Did you know that every month over 860,000 men, women and children in Canada receive assistance from food banks? Each fall, LCL participates in the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive, helping in our own way to support families in need. Visit your local food bank to learn how you can help.

Scouts Canada

Our founder was an Eagle Scout, so it’s not surprising that the LCL team has been heavily involved with Scouts Canada. We have provided logistics and communication management for a regional camp, donated equipment and expertise, and helped Scouts complete their Eagle Scout/Duke of Edinburgh Awards. One notable project was helping to design and engineer the entrance and concession pavilion at the Theatre Under the Stars in Stanley Park. Additionally, several members of our team volunteer weekly as leaders within community youth groups.
