  • Jonathan Layton, Chief Executive Officer, Partner, MBA, NFRC Certified Simulator

    Jonathan Layton has been with Layton since 2011, and as the founder’s son, he grew up with engineering in his blood. In addition to a construction background, he received a diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from Lethbridge College and an MBA from Trinity Western University.

    Following the sudden passing of his father Mark in October 2015, Jonathan succeeded him as CEO of the firm and continues the instrumental legacy in the glazing industry created by his father. Additionally, as a Certified Thermal Simulator by the National Fenestration Rating Council, Jonathan is actively involved in thermal analysis and advocates for his clients in meeting energy requirements for both residential and commercial applications.

    The team affectionately refers to Jonathan by his nickname, ‘JoMo’ which is indicative of his captivating energy and personality. Four things that bring out JoMo’s charming smile are his faith, family, Lego’s, and diet coke.

  • Ivan Chu, Chief Technical Officer, Partner, P. Eng., P.E., NFRC Certified Simulator

    As Layton Consulting’s CTO and Lead Design Engineer, Ivan Chu has a decade of structural design experience in specialty glazing and various other structural designs. He oversees commercial glazing engineering projects, as well as the NFRC Certified thermal analysis. Following his graduation in Civil Engineering from University of British Columbia, he joined Layton Consulting Ltd. to apprentice under founder, Mark Layton.

    Through Mark’s mentorship, Ivan is registered as a Professional Engineer in five Canadian provinces and territories (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and NWT) and in Washington State.

    He prides himself on approaching technical engineering challenges with innovative but cost-effective designs. He has developed new engineering limits for advanced glazing systems, such as structural glass walls, canopies, glass floors, and fin systems. Three things that make Ivan smile are the apple of his eye, his dog Toro, basketball, and Japanese food.

  • Jonathan Adams, Chief Operating Officer, Partner, P. Eng., PMP

    Jonathan Adams is Layton Consulting’s COO and Special Projects Manager. He oversees projects that present unique technical challenges. We value the unique set of skills and technical knowledge Jon has developed through his diverse background in mechanical engineering and product development.

    His engineering experience includes highly technical research and development projects, systems engineering of products from concept to construction, design optimization with advanced FEA modelling techniques, and technical enterprise app development. His academic tool belt includes a master’s certificate in Project Management, a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and technical diploma in Computer Integrated Design.

    Jonathan is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. Three things that make Jonathan flash his award-winning smile are his gorgeous wife, personal revelation, and Root Beer.

  • Eric Skytte, Senior Residential Design Manager

    Eric Skytte, an experienced structural designer of glazing systems, has been working as technical consultant at Layton Consulting since 2000 and managing residential projects since 2006. Eric is Layton Consulting’s longest serving team member and the backbone of LCL’s residential design.

    He received a diploma in Business Administration from Douglas College, as well as a diploma of Engineering Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He holds the designation of Applied Science Technologist, AScT, with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC). With over twenty years of experience in the glazing component industry, Eric is working on attaining his limited license with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC).

    He also volunteers on the technical committee of the Fenestration Association of BC, has served for over ten years on his condominium’s strata board, and took a ten course program in Data Analytics through the Microsoft Professional Program. There are three things which bring an incandescent smile to Eric’s jovial face: Space X, Seinfield, and aviation.

  • Ashlee Flierl, Head of Client Communications & Finance

    Ashlee Flierl has been with Layton Consulting Ltd. since 2007 but took a leave of absence between June 2019 and November 2021. She has resumed responsibility in the Operations Department as Head of Client Communications & Finance. Ashlee believes that a smile and good laugh can go a long way when helping others.

    She began her journey with Layton Consulting as the receptionist and has expanded her expertise in becoming the field review coordinator while making her way into finances. She thrives on organization and enjoys the challenges when working with numbers and finds fulfillment in balancing the accounts, meeting deadlines, and helping others do the same. Her personal growth is an important part of her daily routine and she has a passion for health and fitness, mind, body, and soul.

    Her favorite part of the day is when she is reunited with her French Mastiff dog, Princess Athena at the end of each day. She is grateful for so many things, but especially the amazing team here at Layton Consulting Ltd. There’s no place like home. Three things that make Ashlee smile are feeling loved, learning, and helping others.

  • Anton Van Dyk, Dipl.T, LEED AP, Fenestration Design Consultant

    Over the past 25 years, Anton has been actively engaged in the field of building science, specializing in fenestration design. After graduating from BCIT's Building Science program in 1999, Anton's initial focus revolved around assessing building envelopes that failed to perform in BC’s wet climate, otherwise known as 'Leaky condos.'

    Over the years, Anton expanded his expertise south of the border, establishing a consulting firm in Seattle that focused on envelope design in new construction. In 2011, he shifted his career trajectory and joined Centra Windows, a BC-based window manufacturer. Here, Anton developed a new skill set, blending technical requirements from codes and standards with the product's ability to meet them, with the intention of meeting the needs of designers, builders, and homeowners.

    With the evolution of building codes today and their rapid acceleration to address energy use, Anton has transitioned his focus toward creating smart design.

    He truly believes that every individual in society deserves a safe and comfortable home, as it serves as a place where we nurture our families and forge enduring connections within our communities. Anton's goal is to leverage foresight and meticulous planning to create enduring value for homes, which led him to join Layton Consulting.

  • Taylor Wight, P.Eng., NFRC Simulation Laboratory Director

    Taylor Wight graduated from the University of Alberta with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 2013. After a few years in the oil and gas industry, he wanted to return to his original passion; design.

    His drive to continue learning, while pushing the boundaries of innovation, is what drew him to Layton Consulting. His unique talents and expertise are used both in the office and in his spare time, where he uses his CNC router and 3D printer to build all sorts of projects.

    Taylor is also an avid cyclist, completing a cross-Canada journey from Vancouver, BC, to St. John’s, NL, in 2009. There are three things that immediately bring out Taylor’s kind contagious smile: witnessing his children experience and learn new things, enjoying the sunrise as he pedals his bike, and fulfilling projects he dreamed up that actually work!

  • Jordan Sloan, Contractor P.Eng., BASc, Certified Passive House Designer

    Jordan Sloan joined Layton Consulting after completing his degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University in 2014. He is registered as an EIT in both British Columbia and Washington State.

    During his time with Layton Consulting, he has been heavily involved with project design and analysis, with a special focus on U.S. and overseas projects. His passion for green, sustainable buildings led him to become certified as a Passive House Designer in 2017.

    Over the years, Jordan has been responsible for managing company branches, including the reopening of Layton Consulting’s Alberta Branch. Three things that make Jordan smile are his beautiful wife, working out, and getting on an airplane.

  • Anastasia Tataeva, Business Support Manager

    Anastasia is a most recent member of the Layton Consulting team. With a diverse background spanning research, marketing, and customer service, she brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to the team. What matters most to her are values like honesty, professionalism, and a good sense of humor – she believes these are the pillars of meaningful connections.

    Outside of work, Anastasia wears the hats of a proud mom, an avid runner, and an enthusiast of meditation. You can often find her hitting the trails, hiking, and connecting with nature. Additionally, she’s pursuing her passion for graphic design as a BCIT student, which is where her creative side truly shines. Beyond that, her greatest joy comes from helping others, bringing a smile to their faces, and offering her unwavering support when they're in need.

  • Yoon Her, Design Engineer EIT

    Yoon Her graduated in Integrated Engineering from UBC in 2017. He began his journey in the glazing industry in a supply and install glazing company who specialized in residential and storefront glazing.

    After a few years, he wanted to return to his original training and passion which drew him to Layton Consulting. He is in the process of preparing for his exam to become a Certified Passive House professional.

    In Yoon’s spare time, he can be seen in many piers catching crabs. Three things you can do to bring a smile to Yoon’s face is sharing some dim sum, playing board games, and eating Korean food together.

  • Kushagra Sharma, Design Engineer EIT

    After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in Integrated Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Kushagra worked in project management for a design-build glazing contractor. He is registered as an EIT in British Columbia and joined Layton Consulting in the Autumn of 2021 to pursue engineering full-time.

    Kushagra aspires to continue learning and growing professionally, and to become a champion of the industry he services. Something Engineering has taught him about life is to stay persistent in his efforts towards any goal.

    Outside work, he likes to lead an active lifestyle and can be frequently found enjoying the great outdoors. Some of his interests include backpacking, alpine climbing, and photography. Three things that make Kushagra smile are new leaves blooming on his house plants, long summer days, and the majestic view from mountain tops.

  • Ruslan Davletaliev, Field Review Specialist, NFRC Thermal Simulator

    Ruslan graduated from an Engineering faculty at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University back in his home country of Kyrgyzstan with a bachelor’s degree in Hydro Technical Engineering. After moving to Canada with his family, he has worked in the plastic industry for several years.

    He joined our Layton Consulting team in April 2018 as a Field Reviewer and throughout his tenure, has proven to be an astounding team player while demonstrating his valuable accumulated technical expertise and experience. Ruslan performs his responsibilities extremely well and does so with a high level of professionalism and accuracy. Among his greatest attributes is his dedicated work ethic and strong ability to expand his knowledge of complex engineering principles. Combined this with his friendly and outgoing disposition, Ruslan is an absolute pleasure within the Layton team.

    Being certified as a NFRC Thermal Modeler, he conducts Thermal analysis for ongoing projects. He works on quotes and preliminary calculations under Engineers’ supervision. In his free time, he enjoys active sports, hiking, biking and skiing. Recently he discovered his passion for scuba diving. Three things that make Ruslan smile are his love for his family, spending time with his son, Nathan, and discovering new things.

  • Tyler Loewen, NFRC Thermal Simulator

    Tyler began his journey in the glazing industry fresh out of high school in 2011 working on a manufacturing floor cutting glass and building IGU’s by hand. Although he has been involved in several different industries over the years, he keeps returning to the glazing industry.

    He has developed hands-on skills with glass manufacturing, led and managed manufacturing teams, helped coordinate multiple multi-million dollar glazing projects across North America, and now works at Layton as an NFRC Certified Simulator.

    Tyler has received an Associate Certificate in Project Management from BCIT. Three things that make Tyler smile are his wonderful wife, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and cryptocurrency mining.
